PEGASUS TAKE DIVISION THREE TITLE AT A CANTER

Pegasus A ended their season with a one hundred per cent record, not only in their league matches but also in their doubles games, a tremendous feat in itself! New acquisition Steve Noble joined regulars Pete Mills and Clive Forster to complete a memorable season, their 152 points a record score this century in any division! Noble was ever-present dropping just six games from fifty-four played, in the process winning the Division Three Singles title and was well supported by league stalwarts; Pete Mills 42/51, who missed just one match and Clive Forster 37/49 who missed two. In the three games they did not play reserve Paul Woolnough duly won all nine of his games as Pegasus finished nearly fifty points ahead of their closest rivals, which could turn out to be their ‘C’ team who are nine points ahead of St Mary’s D but who still have one match to play. They finished their campaign in style hammering Tollesbury B 10-0, Toby Turner, Tony Eversden and Mike Sant all unbeaten. Clairmont’s faint promotion hopes were scuppered by the league champions 9-1, Paul Hewitt winning the consolation point. At the bottom H20 Rowhedge F are down but it’s still to close to call between Gt Horkesley D and Tollesbury B as to who will join them. Tollesbury are still one point behind Horkesley but have a game in hand and Horkesley suffered a set back losing 9-1 at home to Pegasus B, after Peter Armes ironically took the first game against Jim Oatley! Pegasus stormed back with maximums from Roy Miller and Nigel Parmenter.

In Division Four CRGS A are just eight points from promotion with their outstanding fixture at home to lowly H20 Rowhedge H. Pegasus D completed a successful season for the club winning the division, with Lawford C sweating it out in second place with their unfortunate D team taking the mantle of bottom place after losing 6-4 to second from bottom Gt Horkesley F and 10-0 to CRGS B. Yasmin Ticquet won her second ‘three’ of the season for Horkesley in their win.

H20 Rowhedge D and Gt Horkesley B are still vying for second place in Division Two. Rowhedge dismissed St Peters 9-1, a result that condemns the telecom team along with Tollesbury A. Gt Horkesley C eased their relegation fears despite going down 6-4 at Lawford A with Colchester Ladies and Junior Girls champion Sian Cook once again unbeaten for Lawford.

Club captains are reminded that they have just one week left week to fulfil their fixtures which could be all important in deciding promotion and relegation issues!
